I like to cut my coat patterns with higher arm holes . The sleeves have to be sewn in by hand to create the right amount of fullness, for them to drape correctly. Here is a photo of the height of arm hole I cut today. You will be in control of the coat not the other way around. Most Savile Row tailors will machine the sleeves into a much deeper arm hole. Just imagine the arm holes an inch or two deeper, you will have to move most of the coat every time you move your arms. (very constricting!)
